This is an interesting keyboard. I have always been curious why it requires its own dongle. Can the encryption not be implemented over a Bluetooth connection?

intelli78Well, I imagine that would require a separate driver; whereas a dongle would show up as a generic HID since the crypto is done in hardware.
riboWouldn't a BT driver be better/easier/cheaper than a dongle? Why use extra hardware for what can be done with software (unless it cannot, which I doubt)?
I guess one argument would be to maximize compatibility. Still, it can't be that hard to develop drivers for Win, Mac, Linux, and then you've covered nearly everyone.

intelli78I imagine there has to be some kind of technical hurdle with the AES 128 over bluetooth since Matias makes a bluetooth keyboard already, but it lacks the extra security that this model offers.
That said, I actually prefer that it's not BT, since BT keyboards are almost always unusable until your OS has already booted, so you can't use them to make changes to the bios/uefi.
