I paired this cord with a clone set of Blue Samurais and wow, what a match. The cord is really well made and very low flex do you wont see the coil sift or warp. It is a very even and well manufactured coil. Probably the best I've owned.
No problems so far, but I wish the coil were thicker.
Overall, I really do like the look of this cable. The gold aviator connector and gold accents along the cable really do make it look nice from a distance. I do wish the coil were a little bit wider in diameter though. A thicker coil would help it stand out a bit more and be more prominent, which is what you really want for a $70 cable. I currently have it connected to my Mountain Everest Max keyboard and currently have no connectivity issues, which, at its core, is what you want from the cable.
Gambol_ShroudHi Gambol_Shroud! Thanks for the thorough review. The Everest Max is definitely on the larger side of keyboard spectrum so I can see why the coil seems a bit small. Please shoot us an email with your order info and a screenshot of this comment and we can discuss some options :) (contact@mechcables.com)
Very nice looking and well made cable but it isn't compatible with the V2 keyboards. I have a CTRL V2, a SHIFT V2 and a CTRL V1 and recently the CSTM80. The only keyboards it works with are the CSTM80 and the CTRL V1. With the V2 it either fails to connect the keyboard or the keyboard will flicker on then the lights will shut off.
All sales are final on these things now so it appears I've got a really nice looking phone charger. Be careful what you purchase from Drop.
CotillianHi Cotillian! Please reach out to us directly (contact@mechcables.com) with your order info. I believe we can get this taken care of for you using a jumbo cable.
The cable looks great, works great (with my Keychron Q2) and is the perfect accessory for any keyboard using the Blue Samurai keycaps. Only downside is the price; even on sale it's expensive!
Cable was DOA so I reached out to mechcables after reading several other customers had the same problem. They indicated it was probably a power issue, but to be honest I'm not sure why you would make a custom cable that could possibly not handle enough power for a keyboard. I have a cheap 10 dollar braided cable from Amazon that works just fine with this board. The initial response was quick and they offered to send me a replacement, but they went radio silent after asking me for a screenshot of my order receipt and what keyboard I use. No response after a week and two replies. I had to RMA it with Drop.
1 extra star because it is still an aesthetically nice cable.
Edit: mechcables sent me a 'jumbo' version of this cable to accommodate boards with a larger power draw. They did this even after I refunded my purchase from Drop, and only charged me for the shipping. Please note that their jumbo cable is comparable to a standard coiled cable from most competitors. The cable on sale here is noticeably smaller. Make sure to check for compatibility issues before purchasing. Replacement cable has intermittent connection issues, but can't really complain since I only paid shipping cost.
The gold color woven into the cable is captivating. Immediately when you pick up the cable, you realize how well the colors go together. It has a beautiful aesthetic, and the gold is lovely. It is not tacky yellow gold but a light, shiny gold. Images don't do the product justice; if you have a friend who owns this, I recommend seeing it for yourself to decide whether it's something you'll like before purchasing.
For those who have any setup with the color blue, this coiled cable is an excellent choice. Especially with the GMK Blue Samurai keycap set, the wire extravagantly adds a beautiful aesthetic to your keyboard.
The cable matches the blue samurai theme very well and I have no connection issues so far. Solid pickup if you are into the coiled cable look and like the colors.
