If you want the aesthetics of a coil, and colors that match the custom keyboard build you've already spent $1000 on perfecting, then it's a relatively cheap upgrade at that point. It could also be useful that the cable has its own detachment point, so any wear and tear from swapping boards out happens there, not at the connector at the keyboard end.
(I assume. I'm not someone who's spent this much on a cable.)
