I've had my Surface (non-Pro) 3 for about 18 months, got it to replace a Surface Pro 2 - mostly for the weight savings, but really for the microUSB charging. I've got the 4/128 version w/ a 200GB microSD card in it for bulk storage. The Atom processor in it isn't the Atom from the era of the Netbook... it's actually pretty capable - enough that I rarely have had to use an alternative machine while working. I bought the pen and the keyboard (both are optional) and paid for the upgrade from Home to Pro. I also managed to pick up a dock for home and work when they were on sale at AZN last month. It's a surprisingly capable little machine that really covers off what I need from a computer for 80+% of the time. And the Anker external battery that I have is good to charge it 3 or so times, meaning I can usually go on a two day trip without needing to plug into AC anywhere except while I'm sleeping.
And I sound like a microsoft astroturfer. Dammit.
They're unlikely to make another one like this as Intel isn't producing a chip that fits in the power/thermal constraints that this machine requires. Which is kind of sad. It really is in the "just right" size/power/battery/weight bracket for someone who attends a lot of meetings, does a lot of email, and basically lives in the MS Office ecosystem. And fits well enough on even the smallest tray tables on CRJ commuter planes.
I'm seriously considering this drop just to get the LTE feature. It'd be so much easier than constantly having to turn on and off tethering on my phone.
