Now for the Europeans, this is actually a good deal; if Massdrop gets the shipping right that is. With current conversion rates, I paid about 250€ for this, and even if I had to pay import tax, it's going to be below 300. The cheapest seller I could find in the EU asked for 550 before shipping. The 1 year less warranty is actually not a problem on a mechanical watch, if it doesn't fail by then, it's unlikely to fail by the next year.

The reason this is, I believe, is that "swiss made" still bears a huge impact in Europe considering watches, which is why mass produced quartz watches by Tissot or even Swatch, are the same money, or even more expensive than automatics by Seiko or Citizen, which are arguably more watch for the money
