It's the cutest, and the price is shockingly reasonable--assuming the quality is as good as it appears to be in the photos. I have other multi-tools but I often forget all the cool attachment/functions they have on them. I sometimes find myself saying: "damn, I should have used the XYZ attachment/function for that job!" I need to work on that. Meantime, I'm get'n one of these ;- )

RayFI almost bought one of these, looked at Gerber and Leatherman. Both are made in China nowadays. I went to SOG headquarters for their annual Christmas sale, a lot of stock not really on sale but in the $30 bin I found a PowerAssist Deluxe in black, made in China. At $30 I am extremely pleased about my new glove box tool, I don't need perfection at that price.

PNWNative I'm sure you made a good choice, always good to have one of them close-by. Who's probably isn't critical ;- )

PNWNativeJust for the information (correct info) Leatherman are NOT MADE IN CHINA. That is crap information. They are made at Leatherman HQ and factory located in Portland, Oregon, USA. They've been made there since 1983 and will continue to be made there. With most steel sourced from Ohio, USA. THEY are made in USA.

FramerMCBAnd if you were truly a Pacific Northwest Native you should know that. I cannot speak to Gerber, although their HQ is also in the Portland, Oregon area and they do have a manufacturing and other facilities at that location. FWIW - Benchmade and Kershaw are also located in the Portland, Oregon area.

FramerMCBJust setting the record straight, or one of those I Never Buy Chinese Stuff guys? Just for the record, neither of mine (Wingman or Sidekick) actually indicate "Made In USA" on the tool, although they did find room on each to stamp or engrave "Leatherman" on both sides. You'd think if it was as much of an issue to them as it appears to be to you, they could have found room to make your point?

FramerMCBEvidently you don't know as much as you think you do:  Yes, most of Leatherman's tools are still made in the USA. However, not every single part of their popular multitool is sourced from U.S. materials. That is no different than a great many manufacturers these days. Gerber is based in Oregon too. A true Pacific Northwest Native? My family has been here long before you were born, just the mere fact that you resort to ad hominem attacks shows how weak your argument is. If you are such an expert on the Pacific Northwest, when was Leatherman founded, I'll answer for you - 1983. When was SOG founded, the answer is 1986. And if you are so knowledgeable, when was Kershaw founded in Portland? The year was 1974. When did Gerber move to Portland? 1966. What is your REI number? I have a REI membership number that is so low that when I was there last week they waited around expecting more digits, my membership probably predates your parents date of birth. And Goddamn right your Leatherman Wave or Sidekick are not stamped made in the USA because they are not fully manufactured and assembled in the USA. You are apparently ignorant of how made in Japan was regarded in the 50s and 60s; for example, when Fender moved their primary production to Japan in the 70s no one wanted them, now it is a highly regarded instrument. It's no different from other manufactured products in different market segments.

PNWNative You tell 'em, buddy! And another thing @FramerMCB, I have actually been to the Pacific Northwest and I actually took a picture of a seagull when I was there to prove it! And if you were a true Pacific North West Native, you'd have you'd have picture of a seagull too, but you probably haven't got one, so don't get all high-and-PNW-mighty with me!!!

RayFI see you were probably in the area of the Pike Place Market (or so), taking a photo of South Elliott Bay, with Harbor Island in the background. But FramerMCB thinks I am not a native Pacific Northwester...

PNWNativeYou know nothing about me. I have been in Oregon all my life - 3rd generation in fact. And further I WORK AT LEATHERMAN. I already said that Leatherman started in 1983. You don't know what the Hell you're talking about concerning Wave, Sidekick, and every other Leatherman tool. They are made and assembled not 100 linear feet from my desk asshole.

FramerMCBOooh, look at who is upset with being incorrect! You didn't know anything about me when you made your comment and made the false allegation stating that "And if you were truly a Pacific Northwest Native..." Must really suck when your delicate ego is so damaged by being incorrect. And I guess it is much more damaging to your ego for me to correctly identify where the photo was taken.

FramerMCBYou work at Leatherman, well I believe that in the interest of full disclosure you should tell everyone that as you jump into discussions promoting your company's product so that we are fully apprised of your bias.

PNWNativeHey, good sir. I owe you an apology (and everyone reading thru these posts). I am sorry that I engaged in referring to you with a derogatory adjective. I do not know you either and this was not called for by me. You are probably a very nice individual in reality. On another note: I was not trying to promote Leatherman products per se. As this particular Drop is for what looks to be a very good value tool which I would encourage those looking for something like this to try. For the price it is very compelling. Besides RayF's compelling story/knowledge-of... As to Leatherman products, they are very, very good products. And while they do come at a price-premium, buying them is one small way to support American jobs and American communities. Mr. Leatherman is a very decent fellow as is his family. Again, please accept my humble apology.

PNWNativeWait--in that case, I think I should disclose that I (we actually) work for Central Intelligence Agency and we have secretly recorded every comment, every purchase, every poll and every endorsement ever made by every card-carrying Massdrop member since it first went live, all those years back. Which is to say, we've got the internet surrounded, don't anybody make a move!
