I've had it for about a year now, and this is a great lens. I only have a d5200 but needed a telephoto, and didn't want the limitations of the dx teles, and found used one for not too much more than the 55-300 dx. This lens is fantastic; it's super fast, accurate, and sharp even with the af limitations on my camera body. I can't tell you how it compares to the dx lenses, but I have a friend with a Canon SL1 and another with the T5i and both have the Canon 75-300, and I've played around with those and this lens kicks it's ass by a mile. It's far sharper, smother, and faster.

Kevinmr4How is when zoomed all the way out to 300mm? I know it's ludicrous to expect high performance at full zoom in a cheap zoom like this, but my only hesitation is how it compares to the Tamron 70-300mm counterpart. The reviews I've been reading seem to all say the Tamron is noticably better once you get past 200mm.

hyperlinkedI would refer back to DuaneWeikum's comment. Everything that i have heard (without testing) has led me to believe this is solid all the way from 70-300. As with every lens, there are duds, but the vast majority of reviews that i have read are extremely positive.
