wesbakerThe short answer to your question is no. You can refill international short cartridges with a syringe.
These pens accept standard short international cartridges. Almost all the standard international cartridges are short (I've only seen Pelikan cartridges in the "long" kind); ALL the popular J. Herbin inks are available in international short cartridge at Jetpens; Goulet Pens sells Kaweco, Private Reserve, Diamine, and some Faber-Castell inks in international short cartridge.
wesbakerSome say that the Monteverde Mini Converter can fit with some adjustment, but some say the Monteverde won't fit. It appears to me that this particular mini converter would fit better:

Nonetheless, why go through all the trouble to get a mini-converter that cannot hold a lot of ink? I would rather fill in the included ink cartridge with a syringe.
