Great diver at a great price point
I received the watch before the planned date so kudos to Drop for this. As usual, the watch was shipped from NJ, USA directly from Drop and the warranty card is blank. The watch was clearly brand new and I got everything (manual, warranty card, usual packaging) as expected. I own several Orient watches because they provide in-house movements, interesting complications (GMT, world time, power reserve, retrograde, moon phase), great quality, (some) nice designs and all of that at a great price point. This one (the blue) is nice for me because you get sapphire crystal, power reserve indicator, certified JIS diver (200m water resistance) at a great price point. You can also get the upper tier (Pro Saturation Diver) which will have the same movement, 300m water resistance and a way nicer adjustable bracelet (no tools required) but at a rather higher price point and it's hard to come by if you don't live @ Japan. For me, the timekeeping is fine. I don't check how many seconds it will gain/lose on a daily basis, but I don't remeber having to reset the time in my normal usage (usually a week) The crown is fragile when you pull it up to adjust the time or date, and it's hard (maybe even dangerous if you don't take care) to screw it down again. I've discovered that you can push the crown with the thumb (like pushing a big button) then you start rotating the thumb to begin screwing the crown: I've managed to overcome the unstable crown that way. I like that the crown is @ 4 but I don't feel this change provides a huge improvement compared with the crown @ 3 The bracelet has the required diver's extension which is only an extra link (not the biggest one) so it's usable but not the best I've come by. The end links are not solid so it will rattle in the beginning. I don't know how, but after wearing the watch a copule of days, the rattle is gone, or at least it rarely happens if at all. Others say that you can put some oil there and the rattle will be fixed as well. The bezel is solid and it has 120 clicks. No issues with alignment or operation. The lume is great on this watch and I can easily compare it with my Seiko Prospex Samurai or my Rolex Deepsea. The power reserve hand has some little lume which I don't think is useful at all. The date changes approximately @ 12 so no issues with that one. So in conclusion, I really like this watch. I prefer this one compared with my Seiko Prospex Samurai because I get better materials (sapphire crystal and the power reserve) for the same (or even slightly lower) price point.
