The price is right for getting the rares now, but the price of the set is inflated right now due to limited supply. Give the set a few weeks after the release (today) and the price of the playset will go down.
Personally a lot of these cards don't warrant 4-of's. But there are some that will certainly be standard staples for the next year or so. I'd have to imagine the allure is the convenience.
