I have just done some testing with the trial version, and it does not appear to be working properly for me.
I am using a 5.1 movie, and in the control panel, I only see the 2 left and right input channels registering any audio input.
I went through the setup doc for configuring the 7.1 speaker config in Audio Midi Setup, and the OOYH driver is being enabled for playback.
I can toggle between the different presets with proper sound signature changes, it is just the surround channels that are not being played back properly.
I am using OS X Yosemite, and a Geek Pulse DAC.
It should still only register the two channels, since it's simulating multiple channels through a stereo output.
Sorry about not responding sooner. I never really check this discussion much. But you should always contact us directly through our website for the fastest response.
When you are playing a 5.1 or 7.1 source file in an app that supports 5.1 or 7.1 playback, then you should see the input level meters on the Out Of Your Head Control Panel moving when there's audio content on each of the channels. (The output of Out Of Your Head is always 2 channel, but the input can be up to 8 channels.)
However, often people assume that apps like Netflix or iTunes delivers 5.1 or 7.1 when they don't. Generally streaming services don't deliver multichannel audio. The best way to test multichannel is to use a DVD or BluRay disk or rip. Then also make sure the app you're using to play those files or disks support decoding multi-channel audio sources. On the Mac, JRiver and VLC support multi-channel decoding.
BTW, you should never have to adjust any of the settings for the Out Of Your Head Audio Device in Audio/MIDI Setup. Please leave the settings at default.
Let me know if you have any questions,
I wanted to buy this.... but I can't even get the trial working, can anyone offer help.... No matter what I do I get "The output audio devcie is in use by another program and cannot be accessed" I have set other devices to primary, I have disabled/renabled many times, I have closed 100% of all apps except base windows, and OOYH Trial still gives me that error 100% of the time.... What is the trick to get around this?
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am travelling for the next 24 hours and unfortunately will not be available to respond to your e-mails or questions here on the discussion.
Sorry about that. Bad timing I guess. (I didn't even know this drop was going live otherwise I would have delayed the start time until after I get back.)
Thank you for your patience..
What DAC are you using?
Is it USB or a PCI card?
I will have to be totally honest with you. We have had a lot of problems with the Xonar PCI cards and have not been able to figure out all the issues. We are not sure if it's a problem between our driver and theirs or some other incompatibility.
There have been several people using the Xonar cards that we have not been able to get working.
However, I do have a long list of things to try if you want. Let me know and I can e-mail the list to you. (info at fongaudio.com)
Otherwise, I would say that those people who use a Xonar PCI card as their only DAC, should probably hold off on purchasing Out Of Your Head until we are able to get a Xonar card in house for troubleshooting.
Sorry about that,
Sure - toss me an email with the list, I'll give it a shot -> You already have an email from me from yesterday while you were about to board a plane, you can just reply to that. I appreciate you being up front about the whole thing.
OK, in that case, I think I already sent you an e-mail with a list of things to try. Let me know if you didn't get that.
I also just ordered a Xonar Essence STX sound card so we can figure out how to get it working.
I don't see it.... Cheers
