mg07gThis is vanity sizing, which is present in virtually all clothing (in other words, a size 30 doesn't measure 30" at the waist). If you measure jeans you already own you will find that this is the case. Compare the actual waist measurement from the chart to the measurement from a pair you own to see which size would fit best. You will probably be the same size.
