I'm excited about these belts and they are at a great price point. My hesitation is that I really like the Mahogany colored belt combination, but it is the only belt that appears to not be dyed all the way through. The other colors are all the same color throughout, but the Mahogany one has color on top and bottom and the middle is a much lighter color. Got an explanation as to why this color is different than the other 3?
PickleThe Chestnut and Havana are dyed through, the Mahogany isn't, and the Natural is undyed. All the leathers go through the same initial 30-40 day pit tanning process with Quebracho extracts. Then they get drum dyed and are stuffed with very high quality fat liquors and waxes. The Chestnut and Havana get a penetrator added and go through a slightly different process during finishing. There's no specific reason why the Mahogany is not dyed through, it's just our tannery's formula that they've been using for decades. The Mahogany (along with the other colors) is used for equestrian gear where strength and durability are of the utmost importance. It's just an aesthetic difference as all leathers go through the same pit tanning process. Actually, if you were to compare all the leathers in terms of strength/stiffness, the Mahogany comes out slightly stiffer than the other colors.

SatchelandPageThanks for the unbelievably quick response. I have decided on the natural and mahogany belts. And, I can get them for the same price as buying one belt normally. Thanks for the kickstarter campaign and can't wait to get these belts in :-)

SatchelandPageAny chance of the dropping a 1.5" Chestnut belt? I like that color the best and would pick it up for a casual belt without hesitation.
Shazb0tWe took the 1.5 Chestnut out of our regular collection because it's pretty similar to the 1.5 Mahogany...We could potentially drop the 1.5 Chestnut specifically for Massdrop in the future if there was enough interest.

SatchelandPageWould you consider doing a natural vegtan with antique brass buckle?
warrenlainWe do make a Natural + Antique Brass, it's just not part of this drop. So would have no problem offering it in the future.
