Who else got the “it’s been brought to our attention that our vendor is no longer able to source......” email? They are offering D&V replacements and a $5 refund. Problem is D&V is a restaurant supply company that has many different lines of glasses in both crystal and glass. They don’t mention in the email what line of D&V glasses they are offering as a replacement. Definitely makes me think less of Massdrop, though.

BrandonMartinezYup, that resolution bothered me quite a bit too. Closest D&V glasses i could find that looked like these are about half the price of what these retailed for. Would still be cheaper with the $5 credit, but nowhere near as exceptional of a deal.
Very very disappointed. Companies (the mystery supplier) shouldn't make deals they can't follow through on. But ultimately, we deal with MD, not them, so that's where our disappointment ends up falling..... And unfortunately we'll never know if MD continues working with this same supplier who's giving us this bait and switch BS.
MD: hold your suppliers responsible to their end of the contract! If they commit to a deal you work out the logistics for how many units they'll guarentee, and make sure they have them on hold for the drop. It's a fairly simple concept, one I know you're familiar with as some drops list the quantity available

BrandonMartinezI did find a site showing D&V Audience Burgundy (http://www.rentalresourcepartners.com/product/audience), but it doesn't say whether it's glass or crystal, or list prices.
I went ahead and asked them to ship me the D&V glasses. If they turn out not to be crystal, I trust/hope MD will make things right.

jimbolayaThe text in the email did indicate they would be made of the same crystal material....but feeling less then confident at this moment about taking them at their word in this one.....
I dunno, maybe it's just the OEM version of the same glasses? But something looks just slightly off to me with the shape of the angle transition at the bottom of the glass. Could be just crappier pics, but it was less appealing to my eye

BrandonMartinezGot a response to my question of what series D&V glasses are the replacements with LITERALLY the same message copy and pasted from the original email. No attempt at answering my question whatsoever. I get that things can happen out of their control, i.e. a supplier not holding up their commitments, but the cavalier level of customer service in response to that is just bad. Never had a problem with any Massdrop purchased product before but it's just shady offering items that are less than 50% of the value of the original drop. Here's a link that will show you the price difference of what they are offering compared to what we agreed to buy. Even if they are D&Vs BEST line, they are still nowhere near the price or quality of Zwiesels. https://www.sterlingrestaurantsupply.com/sterling/the-table/drinkware/wine-glasses.html

BrandonMartinezI wrote back saying I wanted to cancel my order, expressed all the reasons I was upset about this situation, and said I expected I'd be getting 2 credits, as I had ordered 2 sets and one had already been promised to someone as a gift.....so now either I have to be the ass hole and say I can't give them what I promised, or i have to go buy a set at 3 times what I paid for here........ Even asked them to confirm that they would do that.
No response.
Got an email that I got a refund, and see a $5 credit count if I go to join a drop now, but no one bothered writing back to say they won't credit me for both sets?
A little effort on the customer service would go a long way here....

BrandonMartinezThis was an unfortunate situation but I do want to clarify that the replacement D&V glasses that were offered are identical to the SZ, save for the label on the box. The crystal is the same, and they were made in the same place. D&V are intended for commercial customers and SZ for retail. So the D&V box will be more plain as they are ordered in bulk and not sold individually in a brick and mortar location. That being said it was still a mistake and we would never run a drop with the intention of shipping a different product that we listed. Given that the SZ glasses were not available at the time due to an issue with the supplier, we tried to make the best of a bad situation by giving the option to cancel, or take the replacement with a credit.
