I picked up the 3M version of this as well. Quick note to people, when you receive the lights, there is a small 'connector' attached to the male end of the power supply cable. For whatever, reason, this connector is conductive, so the product works if you leave it on. However, you don't get a clean/tight connection if it is left on. See images below. It's not obvious (to me, at least) and I was using it with the connector for a while.
I purchased a murphy bed for my guest room and wanted to provide underlight/reading light for people, so I've attached a photo of my finished product!
Overall, happy with the product. I really wish there was a hardware on/off switch though. As of now, the only way to control it is by unplugging it, or turning it on/off with the SHLighting App (which is decent btw, not great, but acceptable).
