AnniebMasterpiece is specifically designed for piecing, I don't use it for FMQ, for that I prefer King Tut. I use the cones on a separate spool stand for my Juki home machine.
acbeierThe cones are 3 1/2 inches tall. Remember, because of the way cones are wound, the thread needs to be pulled from the top. This is why I use a separate spool stand to deliver the thread that way. There is a lot of thread on these cones, it's very thin ( and very strong.) It's the thinness of Aurifil 50 Mako. I use it for making purses and totes as well as garment sewing.
AnniebSorry if I confused you, I use both So-Fine 50, as well as MasterPiece. But, I still use the spool stand for all of my cones from Superior. Fabulous threads and for specific information on them go to their website www.superiorthreads.com. Fantastic customer service that will answer any of your questions.
MomquiltsSo Fine 50 is the same quality and size as Masterpiece, but is polyester. I use Masterpiece for my piecing, but this equal to that for quilting. It is superb quality and extremely difficult to tell the difference without seeing the actual spool. I only say this, because I have learned to be careful how I store my bobbins, because you really can't tell the difference. It's also fantastic for garment sewing. You will love it as much as Masterpiece. Hope this helps.
