Hmmm, I had such higher hopes for this pen, at first. It is constructed well but I expected more from the Sailor Nib (fine)....... a lot more. It's my first Sailor nib so I didn't know what to expect. I loaded it up with some Pelikan Royal Blue 4001 and it is scratchy, scratchy, scratchy. Maybe I got a bad one. I picked up a Trilogy Pens Zero a couple of montha ago that is a lot smoother. My cheap (5 for $12) JinHao 911 is much better than either of those. It's not even in the same class as my JinHao x750. To be fair, I have never used a pen as smooth as the x750 but I expected the Taccia to come close but it's not even as good as my fine nib Pilot Metropolitan was. edit: I am a relative newbie to the FP world.  I have had this pen for a few months now and it has slowly but surely moved up in my lineup of favorite pens.  I have really learned to appreciate the build and quality construction of this pen.  It is a well-built pen.  The clip is thick and durable and the pen just has a good feel without being heavy.  The threads on the cap are silent when removing and recapping and it posts very well.  The finish is a satin aluminum finish that doesn't scratch easily.  The pen itself is fantastic.  I like it better than my Pilot Vanishing Point.  My complaint was really about the nib and I like it more and more with each use.  I had a little accident (see my post a bit below) and Taccia customer service was fantastic. If you like Sailor nibs, get this pen.

smitbretContact Taccia. It shouldn’t be scratchy at all. Since these are modular units, the swap is easy. I’ve had to deal with their customer service before, they took care of me quickly, no muss, no fuss..

VMIjamThat's a good bit of advice, actually. I ended up dropping the pen onto a hard, plastic mat which bent the nib. I discovered that it is pretty difficult to find a replacement Sailor nib so I contacted them about buying a new one. They just had me send it down and they repaired, free of charge. I used a bit of micro mesh on it to smooth out the edges and it is now one of my favorite 2 or 3 pens. I will say that Taccia customer service was fantastic. It was my accident that damaged the pen but they took care of it completely and without hassle. All I paid was $7 to ship it down to them. I was / am very impressed.

smitbretGlad you got it sorted. Sailor nibs should NEVER be scratchy, but they should be toothy. They all (cheap steel, nice steel, 14k, 21k, every single model and tip size) should feel like a very finely sharpened 2b pencil. Sailor nibs do not glide on the page. They're like a well tuned sports car. Not made for comfort, but for you to really feel the paper. Pilot is more like a sport touring car, with noticeable feedback on the paper, but still supple. None of the major japanese pen makers go for a polish that chases that "hot buttered glass" feeling that pelikan goes for.
