Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

My question is: what other equipment (e.g. amplifier, receiver, speakers, etc) do I need to make this work? Can you suggest some budget products? Is it possible to end up with an "OK" setup by spending say $300-400 or so in total (including this turntable) or is this wishful thinking? Again, my main intention is to give vinyl a try and learn more, I don't want to spend much and having a not so great sound is OK for now.
I, personally, decided to increase my budget. So, i just got myself a Yamaha new integrated amplifier A-S501. I found a good deal on eBay and got it for 260euros. Now, I am on the hunt for a pair of affordable good speakers. I also bought a PS1 for audio CD playback and in the near future I will definitely try Vinyl.
Do your research and take your time.
Basically, I already have the HD3 with S8 Subwoofer - for my computer. I've been fancying a turntable setup for awhile now, most likely in the living room rather than my study/computer room. Hence I will need new speakers - either keep the HD3 for PC and buy new ones for turntable or buy new ones for the PC and use HD3 for turntable. I am generally happy with the HD3 + S8 setup, but I know for fact that there's something better out there. Bluetooth would be a plus in the living room for my wife, but I fear HD3 is just too small to fill the living room and the DAC would be completely wasted. I am also willing to spend a bit more money to avoid buying replacements in the near future, provided its not something too expansive.
Since digital outperforms vinyl when it comes to bass (depth and quantity anyway), I would reserve the 2.1 setup for listening to digital tracks and get a good 2.0 setup for the turntable. Despite their shortcomings, I personally think smaller speakers are great for near-field listening. If it were me, I'd stick with the HD3 + S8 setup at the computer and get the JBL (or some other equivalent with ~5" woofers) for the turntable.
