I had researched the model differences before. After having looked into it, I was actually surprised that I might be better off with glass. As noted below, the thermal carafe doesn't keep coffee really hot for that long. Also if you want your coffee really hot and you use milk/cream, you might have to pre-heat your carafe. This is what I would do for pour-overs, but as a result I actually switched to using glass carafe for pour-overs as well. I think the main difference with this offering is the lack of drip stop. I like the manual over the automatic for making small pots.
