Got my truefox with gateron browns, preassembled in Dec 31 but using for first time today. Will definitely take some getting used to but so far no problems. I am switching over from a code tenkeyless w/ mx clears.... gonna take some getting used to the much lighter switches, but overall I really like. I have a disability in my right hand, and the programmability and small form factor of this is perfect for me (a developer who types 8+ hours per day). Thanks to the whitefox team for making such an awesome product! Sad to see several people with mechanical defects in their product... but for those not comfortable doing a firmware flash on the keyboard... this probably wasn't the right choice for you.
tjonesd289Its not the flashing of the keyboard thats the problem for people i think, its the general lack of quality control of the keyboard before beeing shipped
LeskaYes, I think my comment was phrased poorly. I agree that it is unfortunate that their are customers with physically defective components (likely a very small percentage of people who bought this item). I don't think it is a big deal if the wrong layout is on the firmware (which some comments complained about), as you are going to want to flash it anyways. My background is actually in quality engineering, and QA is tough for small manufacturers to hammer out, as you don't hit a scale where you can accurately batch test, yet spending time to test every product would delay delivery for months an likely piss off more customers than the few who get products with issues, not to mention jack up the prices.
tjonesd289Fair points, but checking all top cases against an accurately milled master template would have quickly indentified out-of-tolerance versions...this would have been easy and would have saved time and money in the longrun, even for a smaller production run.

That may be a reasonable assertion if the keyboard was just a kit that required assembly by the customer. But If Massdrop offers a fully-assembled keyboard option -- as they did in this drop -- then it's perfectly reasonable for the customer to expect that keyboard to work properly right out of the box. It doesn't matter how easy or hard it is to flash the firmware. If the customer chose the (pricier) option to have the keyboard pre-assembled, then the keyboard should be functioning and ready to use when it's delivered to the customer.
