and the dimensions. why drop cant seem to figure out the most basic of advertising principals after all these years is beyond me. this is a device that will most likely sit on a desktop or with a stack of other gear and knowing the dimensions can be make or break for many. desktop space is precious real estate, knowing what size it is is important and takes 5 seconds to include. is this thing 2" across or 24" across? who knows! at least the price is actually cheaper here than amazon by a good amount (rare these days) so those who have to search for this to find the most basic of answers dont immediately buy from amazon instead of here.
radpoodleHey @radpoodle
We've added the dimensions to the page. Thank you for calling this out and we will be sure to include the dimensions on products going forward.
SusanAthank you! i may be a little extra critical due to working in paid search for nearly 2 decades with writing ads and optimizing landing pages being a big part of it. the content on a LP that is easy to find, read & understand in just a few seconds (society has the collective attention span of a gold fish currently) can completely make or break a successful page. gotta know the audience and how they use products youre trying to sell them. cant put a hellcat on the page and not mention horsepower & 1/4 mile times and then talk about mpg....
SusanASorry, but those are NOT the dimensions - those are the dimensions of the box that the product ships in. The actual product dimensions are: 18cm x 14.8cm x 4.5cm, or about 7" x 5.8" x 1.7" - which is a lot more compact and desk-friendly than the dimensions of the box!
SusanAAre those the dimensions for the cardboard box it comes in? There's no way this thing is 12"x11"x4". That XLR4 connector on the front is about 1" diameter; I'd be shocked if this wasn't more like maybe 1.5" tall with feet, and about 8" wide (max) and 5" deep (max)... (never mind I see I was late to this observation 🤣)
radpoodleYou know when I make a fool of myself I usually just kind of disappear instead of trying to justify it with a follow-up. Let alone a life story :)
ebannThe dude was an absolute fool in that discussion. You didn’t even get to see his comments prior to edits and came up with the correct conclusion. I don’t think you necro’d the thread, per se. You’re a bonehead comment archeologist, and I’m here for it.
SmithWare you saying i edited comments or something? why does this thread keep popping up? i made a valid point about including important information and tried to explain why it was valid. i included a little background of why i was making the point because its relevant. what a weird thread this has become.
radpoodleIt was not “a little background.” Everybody’s job is communication. You don’t possess a unique reference frame and that’s why everyone here was morbidly fascinated with your trainwreck-in-progress comment. FFS, I’m a global program manager for vaccine development at one of the three biggest big pharma companies. A small part of my workload is submitting filings to FDA and other global health ministries. Those guys really don’t like asking for information, so much so that they’ll just reject an incomplete filing. I also write the labeling that’s on the product and getting that wrong or omitting a requirement is kind of a problem. I know, however, that I’m not special or uniquely qualified to extend criticism to, e.g., Drop. Calling out @ebann for the “weird flex” in response to your own, epic “SEO for Dummies” flex is the pinnacle of self-awareness.
From Topping's own webpage it shows these RMS. This has more than enough power for all but the most demanding headphones.
1800mW x 2 @ 32Ω
1000mW x 2 @ 64Ω
250mW x 2 @ 300Ω
Cross you heart and hope to die, does this truly pass MQA? Something my DX3 PRO+ doesn't do, Is the digital display still orange or maybe a more subdued blue or green, nice to see resolution as part of the display. The multi-pin connector on the front panel is a nice touch.
I have this and can confirm it does support hardware MQA decoding. The display is white leaning towards the cooler side so a bit blue. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know.
The DAC :
The unit offers a fully balanced line level output plus single ended line level and headphone outputs.
The AMP :
The headphone amplifier is single-ended and the 4-pin XLR is for convenience only to accommodate headphones with balanced cables.
The amp output impedance is <0.1Ω. The 50Ω listed is for the DAC, so would only really matter if you were using this as a DAC only. Edit: I uploaded a photo of the manufacturer specifications.
