What we need is more topre keycaps.... especially blank realforce sets.

LeukybearThat won't happen. Topre stopped making keycap sets, hence them becoming prohibitively rare.

thebrassthiefWho knows, there's power in numbers ala groupbuy via massdrop. Money speaks. :D And besides the worst they can do is tell the massdrop guys no.

LeukybearA little group buy from Massdrop won't prompt them into bringing back their keycaps. Topre as a company makes far more things than just keyboards. I also seriously doubt Massdrop and Topre are working together to make these Topre board drops happen. E: And money speaks and it spoke that it clearly (sadly) wasn't worth it for Topre to be making keycaps.

thebrassthiefWho knows, these drops can get pretty big with word of mouth/ forums... maybe their "discontinuation" have stirred up demand for potential buyers who had previously taken the keycaps for granted until it was too late. Not to mention resellers looking for profit seeing the satisfyingly sized bounty for a new set today. And usually people who have topre boards have more advanced tastes for mechs and deeper wallets which I'm sure Topre and massdrop would be interested in lightening.
Shouldn't be too hard to bring them back even for a short run considering they still have the infrastructure to make the keycaps they include with the boards they sell.

LeukybearIt takes a little more than word of mouth to get a discontinued product back from the grave. I'd say a social blast (relative to size of market segment) is a tactic with "better" (not assured) chances of bringing it back. It's not like playing Yu-Gi-Oh drawing the [banned] monster reborn in a game, and reviving the strongest monster in your graveyard (Forgive this, I'm practicing my bad analogy skills). Levity aside, it isn't easy to bring back keycaps since it is quite possible that Topre may have sold their custom molds [and custom molds are not cheap to make] to fanatics to make up for lost investment in said discontinued product, but this is only my speculation. Remember that luxury business models are also in it for cash, and a few thousand or even ten thousand people "willing to buy" is not enough of a guarantee (which is to say they could still reduce in number considering the temporal aspect of willingness). There must be MORE THAN ENOUGH assured buyers in a calculation of risk to make up for the reproduction of keycaps which requires many new molds made; a few more machines running; a few more hubs to put these molds into; or if they're artisanal, a few more "highly-paid" artisans to work. These revivals from the dead need to assure the company ABOVE-NORMAL PROFIT (Everything is paid for to zero balance with surplus cash to spare)to sustain production because NORMAL PROFIT (Enough profit to help the product subsist which means EVERYTHING, and I mean everything is paid for until zero balance with no extra cash leftover. This profit includes the salaries of entrepreneurs, labourers, machine costs, etc.). That is not to say that it is all downsides, but I'm just grounding your hopes so that if you may want to take serious action on this, you'll know what you're facing. On the positive note, luxury products which have smaller, spendier markets tend to listen to their consumers more intently in order to retain a FULL-PARTNERSHIP with their consumers because they rely on 1.) return consumers 2.) consumer-generated marketing to sell more of their products since we tend to trust fellow consumers than ads and marketing hulabaloo , and, I believe number 2 is more likely since Topre manufactures long-term capital products. On the consumer end, luxury product consumers also tend to be more loyal so the assurance of a social blast has much higher chances of getting Topre's attention despite the much lesser number of people doing said social blast than a mass market product would when faced with a "relatively" similar event. This is my "general" assessment, but I do admit of my lack of knowledge in the totality of the specific ins-and-outs of this industry so feel free to correct me if you feel that I made some mistakes. :)
