I've been a long time TECK user (since the preorder), and was Kinesis owner before that. Personally I love them and have one on every computer I use (quite a few between work and home!) Full function key row (unlike the Dox), dual symmetric navigation keys (no other keyboard has this), dual symmetric modifier key blocks (I prefer the 09 though with the Cmd-Ctrl-Alt block), compact footprint (Kinesis is a boat) and reprogrammable key mapping.
Yes they switched to these new keyswitches, I'd like to get a hold of one of the keyboards to do direct old/knew testing to accurately assess any difference, unlike the knee-jerk reactions I see around here and other places. Cherry's aren't the final word in key switches, back when several of us used Kinesis boards I'd see them chucked in the garbage because while the keys are rates for millions, as a practical matter they become unusable far sooner (max 7 years of daily typing it seemed).

CubeMammalI think the issue is that they went to cheaper key switches and never dropped the price on the keyboard.
I had one for awhile but had to get rid of it because of the terrible ghosting issues. Key presses either never registered or would repeat five times. Very frustrating to use the keyboard that way. I think the layout is fantastic though especially the width of the keyboard. I didn't really care for having the shift key where it was - that was the only key I couldn't adjust to.
It looks like the open-source firmware for this keyboard on github has been updated over the last year to help address this, but with how terrible TEs customer support has been in the past I'm reluctant to buy another one. I had to open a dispute with Paypal when they weren't responsive over the span of a month when I wanted to return my first defective keyboard.

phillyboySome people say that, others don't care, I don't think its the main issue. Anyhow as posted earlier in the thread the company says that the difference in cost isn't significant. You can believe that's not true if you want but nobody has any evidence to the contrary. I work in a similar field (producing electronic devices), and at their margins I believe it. I also know customers will never stop screaming about price, and oh yeah they want it to be as high quality too with every single feature they can think up :)
Anyhow agree about their customer service, they would have a lot more good vibes from people if they could find a way to be more responsive. OTOH it's a small, boutique manufacturer so they can't afford banks of customer service reps either I'm sure. But even at that it's pretty ... slow.

CubeMammalTook them a couple weeks to get back to my email. That's unacceptable.
