LuminaryChief56That's a great question. For me, what you list as a con I see as a desirable minimalist sleekness. On top of that, I've been wanting a keyboard with Cherry MX Greens for quite some time, which aren't very common. The minimalist design, Cherry MX Greens, and mint green keycaps make for a unique keyboard that I just can't pass up.

LuminaryChief56Some people don't like the look of the blackbird, this keyboard is cheaper, more options when it comes to switches (Black, Brown, Blue, Red, Clear, Milk, Green, or both types of Grey) and has the floating key affect.

LuminaryChief56Like Jared said, it comes down to the minimalist look of the Varmilo. The Max is extremely ugly to me. It reminds me way too much of the really gaudy, LED-ridden computer cases that so many people seem to use.
On top of that, the Varmilo has more Cherry switch (some pretty rare ones, actually) and color options.

LuminaryChief56I like and prefer the minimalistic look too, sort of understatement. Low profile case, which leads to floating keys, i love that. (Still waiting for the NEO 87 Zelia) The option to get cherry mx grey tactile, without desoldering and solder them by myself on a keyboard i have. The option to have a dimm white backlight underneath the keycaps, granite set with low dsa profile, giving me a kind of Zen.
I know, i'm a nerd, but this is pure Mechaporn for me :-)
