TrumanAutomatic chrono for $200?

TLHardyNah, i didn't say that. Since you ask, i will ellaborate more. In a world where you can get a battery-run chronograph for $29 and it's been produced by the thousands per hour on Asia, I like swiss made, automatic, mechanical watches: I feel that the maker needs to trhow more expertise to justify selling a watch for $100,$500 or $3000. And even low profile autos now are cheaper also. In the polls there are tons of people asking for an Omega massdrop, but i guess its hard to achieve. Anyway: I like automatics, and it's highly probable i will not buy any quarz watch ever, as i own already a dozen and you get one free when buying a kilo of apples. Disclaimer: This last sentence is a joke or exaggeration as well. Data out. ^_^

TrumanI have Breitling and Tag quartz watches that keep excellent time. And, since I am far down the rabbit hole of watches, I have lots of automatics. I like both.

dholik8503Im relatively new to this world. Whats the point on owning a $3000 quartz watch? technically speaking they have the same capabilities than a Windows 95 based desktop clock. Only aesthetics?

TrumanMr Truman, earlier you mentioned Asian watches. Have you seen the chronograph by a Chinese company named Alpha? It's a hand wound chrono that looks like a vintage Rolex Daytona. It will only set you back around $150 -$180.
Another hand wound chrono is a Chinese model by Sea-Gull (supposed to be a Chinese Army issue). Recently it was on sale for for about $299.
Then there is another Sea-Gull model that has a moon phase mvt. Im not sure if its really a moon phase or just day-night ... it's nice looking but will set you back $1200.
They're all very interesting, supposedly good quality, good looking and inexpensive.
My only issue with this drop is that I think Victorinox have many other quartz chronographs that look much better than this one. But then they are not titanium.

TLHardyThanks for the info! awesome stuff. Im not sure that the watch is titanium; seem some alloy as per the description. Personally my last watch was Steel 364 and i was quite dissapointed. Im not sure that the matherials they describe are in pure form always. Still, i got tons to learn.

Trumanthe management of automatics can be a pain. If you have a rotation of automatics you wear you need watch winders in order to keep the automatics running. Or resign yourself to resetting them in the morning...and resetting a movement with complications is a pain for me (at least, without coffee). ..Some folks also don't think winders are good for the watch mechanisms either--you can check out that debate if you wish. I will also grab my quartz watches for astro/outdoor photography--more convenient. If I go out, then grab a fancy automatic for business or a event. A watch is an accessory choice.

dholik8503LOL-some autos with day/date complications require A LOT of patience! Though I added myself to this Swiss Army drop, I have found the biggest bang for my buck nowadays is a solar powered G-Shock. Lots of features for the price, so light and comfy plus all you need to light to keep the battery going. How can you beat that? I would've grabbed the Gulfman that's in one of the drops but it's not solar powered.

BobDBobD----I wish someone would gift me a Patek Phillipe with a zillion complications so I could try setting it in the morning 😀 I assume for that kind of coin, your dealer sets the watch for you, and the watch does the rest, as well as making coffee and breakfast. I agree with you about G-Shocks--great watches. Hope this finds you well, and happy watch collecting.

dholik8503I agree. With what those timepieces cost (At a certain price level, they're not watches any more!), one should get the complete red carpet treatment. Same to you and yours . . .
