Product Description
The xDuoo MU-601 DAC is loaded with high-performing parts and components, but the final package—greater than the sum of these parts—is what really sings. An XMOS XU208 processing chip provides plenty of power and speed to run the show, while the ES9018K2M DAC chip allows for high-resolution decoding with very little harmonic distortion Read More

What does the USB 1.0 / 2.0 Switch on the back do? Surely it doesn't switch it into USB-1 12 Mbit/s mode?

@donatj It can switch from USB1.0 mode to USB2.0 mode or USB2.0 mode to USB1.0 mode. USB 1.0 is compatible with lower-version computer systems or game console systems (such as SWITCH,PS series). When switched to the USB 2.0 model, xDuoo USB driver will need to be installed and after switching USB modes, you need to either turn the MU601 off and on.

Actually could be kind of handy if it does do that. For example connecting to PS4/PS5 or Nintendo Switch doesn't play nice with DACs unless it's running a UAC 1 mode. You can force UAC 1 mode by running the DAC through a bottleneck, either with a specialised cable, usb 1.1 hub, or a switch on a DAC. JDS labs for example sell a a custom USB cable forces UAC1 mode on all current JDS Labs DACs.

How does it compare with other dacs like topping e30, as ess 9018k2m dac chip is not the best from ess sabre ? Or the implementation of the dac makes it good enough ? Interestingly atom dac+ also uses the ess 9018k2m.
