Yes, you can definitely use this yarn to make a blanket. I would suggest to search on www.ravelry.com for a queen size blanket pattern you that uses bulky weight yarn, then divide the yardage required by the 90 yards per skein in this product. Personally, I usually buy an extra skein to accommodate for any unforeseen mistakes or disasters (I'm fairly new to knitting and have three cats who love "helping").
