They are expensive, truly a ridiculous indulgence which is over the top. I'm not even remotely sorry for purchasing these, they are just so pleasing to my ears. They are tremendously comfortable, so much so that I could wear them all day long and fall asleep with them on and it wouldn't bother me. They keep music inside of the earcups and outside noise out of the earcups. I don't care to use them as wireless headphones but it's nice to know that I could if needed. The phone app only works when using wireless. That's not a concern. They sound better and get louder wired. I have used them so far connected to my laptop via a DragonFly Cobalt DAC as I have only had them a few days. I had also considered the Focal Bathys but after hearing the Focal Celestee and being bored out of my mind by their total lack of sound stage didn't want to endure that again. The No. 5909 does sound stage pretty well for a closed back headphone. And the build quality... the aesthetic... all very much premium. It's hard to recommend given it's cost but I'm just not even remotely sorry for buying this headphone.

Gotta say, after owning the No. 5909 for a couple of months I honestly have ZERO regrets. They sound downright terrific. They really do. And I haven't noticed a single dropout while using without the cable. They are still pricey and I'd recommend seeking out an open box pair.
