Everyone here proclaiming that the knives they love are the best are wrong. The best knives - especially for value - are Kiwi. Yes, the cheap knives you can buy at pretty much every Asian market. No, I'm not joking.

If you search around you'll find a bunch of reviews where the reviewer is surprised at how well Kiwi's hold up. People get years out of their Kiwi's. My gf and her kids tend to cut stuff on steel trays and plates for some strange reason (we have 3-4 good cutting boards). So, mine get bent and broken from misuse, but they still take a while to become dull and/or useless. If you actually use a cutting board you can just sharpen them easily. Or, just buy new ones. They're cheap as hell.
