My Happy Place; A Portion of My Home Setup

Hello! I'm Jim, and these images represent about one-third of the home setup where I spend most of my time.

I work 90% from home as a Datacenter Engineer, and occasionally I'll open a game or dabble in electronic music. I have been into different aspects of this career and these hobbies for forty years, but only started taking the aesthetics for my workspace, my desk setup, and the decor in the rest of my home environment more seriously a couple years ago. I feel that a functional and comfortable workspace which I visually enjoy existing within has made measurable positive impacts in many other areas of my life.   Unfortunately there aren't any new products from Drop in my newest round of photos here, but I do have a few new DCX keycap sets, a few new desk mats from Drop, and maybe even a couple sets of stabs from Drop which are here waiting for a photo-op =) I will get to everything in time, but this is what I can share today...

The PC in this setup is an I7-10700k with 32GB Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz RAM, an EVGA 3080 FTW3, a few TB of Samsung 980 Pro and Crucial P5 Plus SSD, and a few TB of RAID-1 spinning rust all jammed into an air-cooled, all-black BeQuiet! Pure Base 500DX case. My PC's aren't anything fancy to look at, so they often remain in the shadows. Hence, I believe a PC should do two things: (1) get the job done and (2) stay out of the way of getting the job done. Anything more is a waste of time and effort in my opinion.   The screens here are 3x 24-inch 1920x1080 AOC C24G1's and one 29-inch 2560x1080 UW AOC CQ29G2E. I have found that AOC are very budget friendly, especially when you're buying three, four, five, or more. I have eight myself, and they do what I need them to do well enough for now. I've got the three visible screens on the bottom mounted with a Mountup Gas Spring Triple Monitor Mount. The top UW is mounted to the wall with a basic Ergear wall mount. Huanuo also makes good budget mounts, and I do use a couple of those, so I just thought I'd mention them.

Moving on to other peripherals, we have a pair of Edifier R1280Ts speakers on floor stands drilled straight through the 74-inch IKEA Pinnarp countertop. You will notice a couple of floating Elgato Streamdecks in a 3d printed side-by-side mount, a 3rd Gen Amazon Echo, a Rotrics Nextube IPS Nixie Tube Clock Replica, a Samsung wireless charger, a Logitech C920 Pro webcam & G604 wireless mouse, and finally we have the uber-thick-bezeled Wind Studio Z75 75% custom mechanical keyboard anchoring it all as the primary central input device (the group buy for that Wind Z75 begins later this month on June 28th).   You can also kind of see a Behringer Xenyx X1222USB Mixer off to the left, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen to the right, and in the shadows up near the right speaker you can almost make out the silhouette of a windscreen of an Audio-Technica AT2035 microphone on a Sampson MBA28 28-inch boom arm.   The clear glass monitor riser is from Monoprice, deskmat is from Phangkey and KPRepublic, and the monitor light bar with wireless remote is from Xiaomi Mijia.

When I got this keyboard and deskmat I realized I didn't have a cable to match it, so I scrounged up what I had on hand from Voxelmods to make a workable connection - at least until he can get a few new straight detatchables and coiled USB cables to me. Oh and I nearly forgot, the tiny golden Buddha are from Amazon, and I'm not quite sure where the wallpaper came from, I believe I've had that for a few years now. I think that covers just about everything you can see in these images, and I look forward to seeing all of your setups here as this new Battlestations community matures! P.S. There's a second setup to the right of this, in an L configuration, containing a nearly identical, but in my opinion much more fun setup. Next time maybe I'll give a little tour of that side but for now you'll just have to use your imagination 🤔😁😜

Looks awesome. Do you have a link to print files for the Stream Deck holder?

psxndcUnfortunately I don't have the print files, I bought the mount from a local seller here in Minnneapolis. He's got an Etsy shop though, it couldn't hurt to reach out and ask if they will share: etsy.com/shop/perconsilium
