For all you Keyboard Club members, Is the membership worth it and how often are new keycaps come out?

more_vert
Hey Keyboard Club members and everyone in general. I got a quick question for you all, is the Keyboard Club membership a worthwhile purchase? I would like to buy a couple keycap sets and maybe a keyboard or two, but i don't know how often I would use the discounts the Keyboard club offers. And second, how often does Drop roll out new keycap sets for purchase? Thanks guys! Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say.

For new members, it's $49 for year 1 and year 2, and all you'd basically have to do is use the minimum 30%/$30 off coupon (30% off if what you're buying is under $100 and $30 off if over $100) twice to recoup what you spent. Of course, there's always a chance that you pull a 40/50/60/100% (or $ amount) off each month as well. There is a bit of luck involved regarding pulling a DKC coupon at the same time that a keyset or keyboard comes out that you'd like to buy, but Drop does run pretty frequent sales on DKC coupon-able items of both keycap and board variety. While we don't know what will be put on sale (anything that doesn't require a coupon is DKC coupon-able that's in the Mechanical Keyboard category), it's safe to say that generally (can't guarantee anything of course), a set that you may want will go on sale. It just depends when. And, if you're still on the fence, feel free to wait until a keycap set or keyboard DOES get put on sale before you purchase your DKC membership! Or wait until one of the many promos that Drop runs occurs where you have the chance to pull a $1 annual DKC club coupon. That happens during Christmas time, spring cleaning, and sometimes at other times during the year. So all in all, I think $49 a year for years 1 and 2 for new members is a better value proposition, although the normal price of $69 a year isn't "too" bad either. But unless you really want a keycap set or board right now/it's on sale, wait until said keycap or keyboard is on sale before buying your membership so you know you can at least use a coupon off the bat to be halfway towards recouping what you spent for the membership itself!
The DKC page explains it best. Basically, if your order total is less than $100, whatever coupon you pull will only take a percentage off. So a $30 coupon takes 30% off, a $40 coupon takes 40% off, and so on. If your order total is more than $100, it's not a percentage off, but the actual dollar amount ($30 off, $40 off, and so on).
