I ordered my first pair of audiophile headphones, the beyerdynamic 990 80 ohm version because the nice man at audio46 said it wouldn’t need a headphone amp. My Q is although it wouldn’t need it, would adding a headphone amp to my iPhone make the 80 ohm sound better? Or is it strictly for the 250 ohms that they have to use a headphone amp . I mostly listen to hip hop and r&b music >

So I bought the pc38s which sound amazing compared to all I have used prior, but no matter what I try, I can not get the mic working on my pc! It works fine when plugged into a controller for console, but simply wont on the pc. I own msi ge75 raider, it has two ports, one for headset, one for the mic! The cords that come with the headset are split into two, each is the 3 pin I think (TRS)... Maybe the port on the computer requires 4 pin or what else can I try? Thank you in advance!

I just put in my order the other day for the HD6XX and Drop THX 789. I am not sure what DAC I should pair with them. I have read a bunch of the posts here and got some ideas but I still can't decide. Right now I was thinking of waiting for the Drop + Grace Balanced DAC or the SMSL SU-8 to drop again or even grabbing one of them off of Amazon. Would either of those be a good pairing or is there something better I should be getting? The only thing I don't like about the SU-8 is that it is silver. The SU-9 comes in black but it's more expensive. My only requirement is that I want it to be balanced. I would prefer something in the $200-300 range but would be willing to spend more if it's absolutely worth it and going to be a noticeable difference. Thanks!

I see a lot of DAC and headphone amps on the site, and I'm wondering why I would need one (or both?). I listen sometimes on my computer, sometimes on an iPad or iPhone, and sometimes on an old school stereo with a Sony receiver. All of these are compatible with headphones, so what's the purpose of getting a DAC/Headphone amp? And what is the difference? And do I need both? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me. Bob

So I bought myself a set of these fancy Drop Panda headphones second hand off of eBay (for half the new price). They sounded fantastic but I thought "I'll just upgrade the firmware and try out this SoundID thing." I update the firmware and I go through the "preferences" and the "hearing test" and I think "wow this is fancy, it should make my amazing headphones sound even more amazing." Wrong. After the update and setting up "SoundID" now my fancy headphones sound like hot garbage. "Maybe I did it wrong" I thought. So I went through the "preferences" and the "hearing test" again, really carefully, to make sure I did everything as instructed. Still sounds like garbage. Maybe my hearing preferences are just bad? I don't know. All I know is my headphones sounded great right out of the box, but after the SoundID was installed and the profile was uploaded my headphones sounded like trash. So I spent several hours pushing buttons on the terrible app's terrible user interface and...
