Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Full view of my desk. I have two PCs doing different things. The main one with the monitor in the middle is my main machine running Windows 10 with foobar2K installed. The other one to the left of the picture is my Ubuntu machine that I use for audio production.
I was finding that the tweeter on them was a bit underwhelming, so on a whim I modded them using a little pair of Yamahas that were floating around and that no one wanted. The tweeters in both speakers disconnected, as I also found that the one in the Yamaha was too shrill. The woofer in the little guy is the tweeter now, connected to the same circuit the old L652B tweeter was, so it gets the proper cutoff signal.
As a result, the highs are MUCH better defined, and also have PHENOMENAL imaging. Beats some better systems I've heard. I've also never heard of anyone using a woofer as a tweeter, so if anyone wants to comment, I'd welcome the conversation. Feel free to say I'm completely doing it wrong if you want, I'm new to this, so I'd welcome any and all info, whether it be positive or negative
Future plans are to replace the receiver with a more desk-friendly solution. That could either be a Schiit stack, or an SMSL AD18. More likely the latter. The thing is that I'll be giving up that wondrous near-field surround sound, so I'm still on the fence on whether I'll ever actually do it. I'll also be looking to upgrade/swap my speakers. I've heard good things about the Micca MB42Xs, so I'll be looking at those pretty closely. More like drooling...
All-in-all, not bad for a broke 19 year-old I guess. Nothing from Massdrop yet, but that should be subject to change soon. :)
