So, this post is about asking some community members opinions about bronze watches and, in - this case - bronze Seiko "hommage" watches in particular. Here is my thing: the Seiko community has been "modding" the heck out of SKX and other Seiko models (Turtle etc..) Usually improving the specs, looks and fit and finish. Most noticeably putting better calibers (with hacking and hand winding) in them, dial/hand design and upgrading to sapphire AR coated crystals. There is a huge market for all kinds of Seiko (aftermarket) parts, and I really was questioning if buying a Seiko and then spending money on doing all the mods yourself is worth it? So, when I recently started to feel an itch for bronze watches, combined with my Seiko preferences, I really started to see why already "modded" Seiko hommages make sense? Case in point: bronze Tuna and *bronze* Turtle hommages from Heimdallr. They have Seiko "guts" in them (NH35A), Seiko "hommage" cases and cool dial/hand combo's (62MAS/Marinemaster) you can't get with Seiko plus the aforementioned sapphire and all for a prize that is not bad at all! Also, did I mention their parts align better then most factory Seiko's? ;-) And: most parts are interchangeable making it possible to put a original Seiko dial back into either one of these watches! So: instead of modding a Seiko, why not get a "pre-modded" Seiko hommage? especially since they offer bronze versions? Anyway: what do you think? I'm really tempted to get either one or both of these?

Yikes--those are some good-looking watches! Couldn't figure out what the hell I was looking until I read your entire post. First, I'm with you on the cost/benefit analysis of modding extant Seikos--lotta cool parts to work with, but the dollars add up quick. Second, I never liked liked the idea of practicing modding skills on my own watches. I suspect you're on the right track, A) because guys like me are too chicken, and B) guys like Mark, at Long Island Watch are already offering pre-modded Seikos and they're selling well at hefty mark-ups. Thanks for the post; I'm heading over to Heimdallr to see what they have to offer. UPDATE: Curse you hgoor--just spent a bundle over there! By the way: if you enter NEWS15 in the coupon box at checkout, you can save 15%, which in my case, paid for expedited shipping. By the other way: that name seemed a little strange to me so I had to look it up. Here's what I found: In Norse mythologyHeimdallr is a god who possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, owns the golden-maned horse Gulltoppr, is called the shining god and the whitest of the gods, has gold teeth, and is the son of Nine Mothers More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heimdallr

Over here, we're all busy suing the pharmaceutical companies for getting everyone hooked on opioids. Maybe we can band together in a class-action suit against the watchmakers and MD for getting us hooked on watches? Perhaps @Elky knows a good attorney?

I think they look great! The great thing about this"hobby"/passion is there are so many choices and different things one can do with watches. I think it's perfectly fine to mod any and everything if that's what you want to do... It's sounds like you've done your research. I'd be interested to know how it turns out. Cost vs labor. The one person you're trying to satisfy counts the most. 😀👈
