Why is a gooseneck kettle favorable for pour overs? Is it just to control the water flow over the beans?

row1Exactly. The angle also lets you maneuver around the grounds much easier.

row1Yes a slow steady stream gives you control to pour over all beans or tea leaves- i have the Bonavita and really think it makes a difference

row1Yeah... flow and precision... regular kettles are an "all or nothing" kind of thing. Goosenecks you won't dump a bunch of water in the pour over and mess up brewing.
