If I'm just getting into coffee, what are some of the best resources? Also - any recommendations on what's the most essential piece of coffee equipment? (I know this is vague - sorry!)

jenweiCheck out Barista Hustle if you are looking to take a deep dive! Quality coffee beans are the most important factor, but second to that I would pick up a decent burr grinder. Following that I would invest in a scale and an electric kettle. Each of these things will add a layer of consistency and control to your recipes. Just don't feel like you have to do everything at once!

jenweiPersonally I love reddit.com/r/coffee. A little snobbery here and there, but everyone loves coffee, and everyone wants coffee to be enjoyed to the fullest!

jenweiSweet Maria's not only has great beans and hardware, they also have an amazing amount of resources where you can learn everything from roasting using a popcorn popper to the differences between wet and dry processing.

jenweiA good grinder is the single most important item in getting a good cup of coffee. It will allow you to get good results from any non-espresso method.

jenweiA quality burr grinder is the most important piece of coffee equipment. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but after getting one, I truly believe it. Look for one by Baratza. While there are other burr grinders that cost less, the quality Baratza offers, as well as impeccable customer service, is well worth every penny.

jenweiI write instructional articles for work quite a bit, and we have a whole bunch of beginner-centric resources that might appeal to you. Here's the most recent one that walks through those very first steps to getting into specialty/"hipster" coffee: https://prima-coffee.com/learn/article/coffee-basics/how-start-coffee
