Hey buddy. This is a fantastically genius idea. So congrats. I for one can immediately vouch for the Dragon by Apogee. That knife is a monster. I own 2 now just because I never want to not have one where ever I am. :D
And I was tempted to join in on the pass around until I saw you required a 500 karma. Sad to say people on Reddit don't like me. My opinion goes against theirs. Severely. And while I might be a MassDrop junkie, I'm not a karma poster on Reddit. I don't even know how to get it.
So thanks for coming up with this and giving people a chance to try out some fantastic knives. I'm sure this is going to benefit the user and companies in a positive manner. I look forward to hearing feedback.
PS make it mandatory the the user has to leave some form of a review otherwise what would be the point besides testing the knives. IMO

BrainFlushI've tried to make providing feedback as close to mandatory as possible. It's basically the whole point of these passarounds so that the people who can't join in can still receive some benefit. At the same time, explicitly requiring feedback, no exceptions, dissuades a lot of people from wanting to join in. It's a tough balance.
As for the 500 karma requirement, that's an unfortunate necessity put in place to prevent bot accounts from entering.
And now onto the Dragon, I'm actually not much of a fan. Granted knives are very personal so someone else might certainly like it for the same reason I don't, but my reason is that the knife seems confused about what it want's to be.
The Dragon has the heft and thickness of a Chinese cleaver, but not enough height to even out the thickness. This results in the blade being thick behind the edge meaning it tends to wedge on dense foods. Getting the blade to behave took more power than I expected, even with all the extra weight.
As for the knife's profile, it's borrowing the boxy nature of a Japanese nakiri, but crossing it with the curved belly of a German chef's knife. This results in an odd combination as the knife doesn't rock all that well due to the weight and very low tip, and it also isn't great at push cutting since the rounded belly only makes contact over a small area at any given time.
Another aspect of the Dragon I found odd was that the blade tends to steer towards the path of least resistance. For each of the three knives, I both diced onion and also sliced onion as thin as possible. All three knives did fine with dicing, though the Dragon wedged on the horizontal cuts very badly. For the thin slice test, the Ginga did amazingly, the Victorinox did okay, and the Dragon didn't do it at all. The winner here was no surprise because the Ginga's blade is incredibly thin, one of the thinnest knives I've ever used. The Victorinox did okay and performed adequately though this test pushed it to its limit. Finally, the Dragon would just steer out of the onion, no matter what I did. In my opinion, the factors contributing to this problem are the blade's weight and thickness, which oddly enough seem to be the exact charastics the blade is trying to emphasis so maybe this isn't a fair test to begin with. Anyways, if the edge is going down exactly where you want it to go by the time the blade's spine is positioned where the edge was, it will have pushed the edge a few millimeters to either side. For me this ended up taking effect about halfway though an onion, so the blade would end up making diagonal slices half the height of the onion instead of uniform thin slices all the way through.
For anyone else trying to Dragon YMMV, but that's the whole point of the passaround! Not everyone has to love every knife.

FriedShoeWonderful breakdown. I only have the Dragon so unfortunately I can't say anything versus other knives.
As for utility versus a straight blade. I actually do love the curved blade which gave me a nice rocking effect as I chopped. Guess I'm saying it's a fun knife to cut with. I also developed a callus using my grip style. Which I found to be cool.
Yeah I really am excited to read all the feedback. Congrats. You got a hit post on your hands.

namhodThat's the thing. I don't post links or images or whatever. I only reply/comment. :D So I don't even think that can help. At this point, I am not even worried about it anymore. People know me, and that should be enough. I hope. lol But sincerely thank you for wanting to help out.

namhodMy man, you are free to try. https://www.reddit.com/user/BrainFlushed/comments/ Don't spend too much time on it. :D I prefer MassDrop anyways. And all the help I have given to artists and MD on Reddit hasn't done much. But I appreciate it. ;)

BrainFlushI think you might be shadow banned from mech keys over there. Unless you delete a lot of your comments? Massdrop is popularly unpopular on Reddit and if you try to reason with the hive mind you become a target. I have made the same mistake a few times. We are getting well off topic here though.

namhodI talked to the moderators awhile back. They told me that my karma was too low to post for visablity even for when I do trades. People still find my posts and trade posts but I don't know how.
I'll message them. They also said they would have to write a script for me so I'm excluded but I never followed up.
