I got an MG RX-78-2, I am really stoked to start building but my fine line paint markers won't get here until Wednesday :( - Hopefully I'll have something to show off before the weekend

Henry_LPLEASE dont use the fine line markers, use an enamel wash to do panel lining, its really easy and will look a thouasand times cleaner than a marker. use lighter fluid +cotton tip for clean up and buff to remove smudging. TRUST ME

Henry_LI personally use Model Masters Enamel Stain i picked up at the local hobby shop, just remember to get a brush along with it, and some zippo style lighter fluid for clean up. If you want to spring for the more expensive option then I recommenced the Tamiya line of enamel washes, the cap on the bottle comes with a brush that a lot of people seem to love, I have not personally tried it as the 10$ price difference and low funds have not given me a chance YET but i hear great things!
EDIT: ALSO its a good idea to get the offical thinner of the brand your using, if your using tamiya paints then use tamiya thinner and model masters means model master thinners as the recipe is slightly different. You use the thinner spairingly since the washes come already pre thinned but as your using the paint it will tend to dry just a bit and not "run" as much, when you notice this its handy to be able to rethin your paint on the spot, just get some plastic pipettes or glass medicine droppers so you don't contaminate the thinner with paint!
Ask away if your ever confused, i tend to talk alot!

DarkshadeAre you painting and washing prior to assembly, or do you do it after assembly is complete?

floyd923Prior to assembly, it can take quite a lot of time and work before you get to see the finished product but that final assembly is so worth it!
