Must-have headphones

If you could own only 3 headphones, what would they be? Okay, 5 headphones, if you insist!

Having listened to just about everything (including the Orpheus HE-1) and have owned a bunch, the two most expensive ones I've ever owned being the Stax SR-007 and Audeze LCD-4, here is my list:
If I could own only 3:
1) Stax SR-009S 2) ZMF Ori 3) ZMF Eikon
Don't need any more than the first two though.
My top favorite headphone right now is the: Technics EAH-T700 (currently own)

I'm really curious about: Sennheiser HD 820 (maybe would like to own)

Headphones that I've listened to that I want in my collection: Kennerton Odin Pale Moon Ebony (definitely want to own)
My current phones: HD800 HD600 Oppo PM3
waiting on delivery - HD6XX and Audeze Mobius
Wish list - cost no object Orpheus Closed dynamic Senn HD820 LCD-4Z
I find in-ear and on-ear phone too uncomfortable. I would love to see a Massdrop HD82X.
Very cool list.
HD600... and that's it. I'm happy.
Focal Clear (Maybe Elex instead pending some comparisons) Ultimate Ears UE Live
I think when I get those 2 I will be able to stop buying headphones altogether.
For now, thoroughly enjoying HD 6XX though.
What amp do you want to drive your cans with? Me, Apex Hi-Fi Pinnacle. I might add a portable one to the list at some point, but O2 on batteries works well enough for now.
My current 3 are: HD600 HE4xx Apple AirPods
If I could have any 3... Orpheus LCD X Apple AirPods
One dynamic, one planar magnetic, one portable.
Same here. I would want one dynamic, one planar, and one portable, if limited to 3.
Yup. My current setup is fine and is actually really good. I don’t see a need for more than 1 of each type. Maybe I should get an electrostatic headset next lol
Current Equipment LCD 2.2 Pre-Fazor HD650 CA Vega
Headphones I am aiming for: FOCAL UTOPIA LCD4 CA ANDROMEDAS The LCD 2.2 Pre-Fazor is Must keep, nothing can beat the messed up bass.
Changing my list. If I could only have 3 from my current inventory 1. HD 800S for gaming and music 2. Bose QC 35 II for work and travel 3. Apple AirPod Gym/everyday carry
(In my current inventory: Hd 800S, DT1990 Pro, Fostex Purple Hearts, HD 6XX, HiFiman 4XX, Sony MA900, AKG K702, PXC 550, Bose QC 35 II, Apple airpods, PC363D)
If i could only have 3, any headphones: 1. Orpheus or more realistically stax/focal flagships 2. Bose QC 35 II 3. Apple Airpods
I'm more of a one-headphone-at-a-time kind of guy. I am enjoying my HD6XX but see myself realistically buying a Hifiman HE-6 in the future. Maybe an Elex if it evers comes back around. Though, my next purchase in the near future is most likely going to be a new DAC.

Hm, my calculations arrived at a minimum of 6.3W for 115dB of headroom. Amp I'll be using is my Audio-GD HE-9, which can do about 7.2W and according to reviews can easily drive the HE-6. I also tried the headphone on smaller amps like the ifi Pro which does about 4.5W into them and the headphone already sounded better than a Focal Utopia.
Like I said: quick and dirty. I just calculated 120dB from innerfidelity measured sensitivity (or power for 90dB or whatever they call it) since that was the first number I could find.
It's still incredible what it takes to drive those things.
mine currently: sennheiser hd600 audioquest nighthawks sony mdr z7 wishlist: audeze lcd x/ sennheiser hd800s mrspeaker ether c flow/ sennheiser hd820 but id ditch the hd600 for hifiman edition x v2 and the mdr z7 for z1
Wish list (of those I've heard): Focal Utopia, Grado GS1000e, Audeze LCD-3 Wish list (those I'd buy without trying first if I had "mad money" and, if I didn't like them, I'd give them away): Senn HD800S, Stax SR-009, Senn HD820, Beyerdynamic T1 v2 Wish list (those I'm likely to buy in next few years): Beyerdynamic DT880 600ohm, HifiMan HE4XX, Grado SR325 Purchased (some not yet here): Senn HD630VB [listening with them right now--my current and likely long-term closed back go to], B&W P5 s1 (in need of repair or replacement--was my go to before the HD630VBs--best travel set I've had, as the 630s are bulky), Grado iGe IEM (only ones I've tried that I've liked for long-term listening quality and comfort--not a big fan of IEMs overall--and my go to when I need IEMs), Senn HD6XX (awaiting delivery), Senn HD58X (awaiting delivery)
If I had to pick a final five from all the above, conceding this choice is partly guesswork, I'd say: Focal Utopia Senn HD820 Grado SR325 Senn HD6XX HifiMan HE4XX for the variety of type (open/closed, dynamic/planar, low/high impedance). And my Grado iGe for the times I need to be "on the go".
I don't even wanna think about it... I'm already looking forward to headphones from the future ;)

I love my Apple AirPod.
Since the post doesn't specify ones you own vs ones you want.... here are two breakdowns:
3 out of my Collection: Focal Elex Senn IE800 Sony 1000x (Bonus Cans) Hifiman HE500 Fostex TH-X00
3 from the Wish List: Senn HE-1 Senn HD820 UE PRM
Edit: Only out the box a couple of hours but the Elex may have to take the HE500 spot... final assessment is TBD. These things combine many aspects I like out of my T1, HE500 and HD650
Update: I really like the Elex but the new Cayin amp has also really stepped the HE500 performance up a notch. The Elex works from a greater variety of amplification sources so with a three phone limit the Elex may have to edge the 500 due to versatility and comfort. Added spots 4 & 5.
I'll just find some good friends who stay near me XD
* STAX SR-L500/L700 * Fostex TH-X00PH * Sennheiser HD660S
