Wrist Check

In keeping with my attempt to wear only US watches until the election, I’m starting the weekend out wearing the first watch I ever owned. A US Time Hopalong Cassidy watch with period western tooled strap. Don’t wear this often, so I only recently ‘noticed’ the cool drilled lugs. Have a great weekend.

Hey, any watch can be American if it stays long enough to become naturalised!

TwentySixAndI’d venture that many American watch companies were founded by immigrants right of the boat who were later naturalized. Off the top of my head, I’m thinking Helbros, Elgin, Gruen, Bulova, however Ingersoll, Westclox and Hamilton were all American ‘born’ ventures. Virtually all US watch makers put foreign movements in their watches at one time or another, especially after WWII, when everyone went Swiss crazy.
