that's impressive. I might do that at some point. I would really like a dactyl keyboard. my only question for you, is how do you do punctuation, numbers, and CTRL/ALT/SHIFT? something tells me that this would not work for my everyday programming needs.
PooStickAh, the magic of QMK. Several of the keys function as modifiers when held, but send keystrokes when tapped. So for example, both of the thumb keys are shift when held, but send enter and space when tapped. Ctrl and Alt are handled by alpha keys on the outer rows, same principle. Some people like to put mods on their home row, with Ctrl Alt and GUI mirrored and available from either hand. The QMK firmware is basically endlessly customizable, and the “arrow” keys actually trigger my other layers (numpad, symbols, navigation cluster etc.), so comma and period, semi colon, and ? are all in the normal spots, but other punctuation lives on my symbols layer. And the whole right half turns into a numpad when I have that layer on.
