For my EDC flashlight, I now insist on a quick access strobe button. Further, I've found that having 5 different functions is mostly a waste and getting to "brightest" (the one I want 99% of the time) is most difficult.

Lefty32A great feature I found was on the Klarus xt2cr where the tail cap switch has tactical mode. One click on you're on the highest setting. The mode can be changed to Outdoor mode for activities like camping. That flashlight in a smaller scale would be awesome. 300-500 lumens, something in the size of an AA or AAA flashlight in a rechargeable would be very practical. It can be powerful enough for defensive role such as EDC with a CCW and be flexible for different tasks.
