Movie Soundtrack

more_vert
Just wondering if anyone else enjoys listening to the occasional movie soundtrack? I have to say the three that come to mind for me are from Interstellar, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the Matrix. I listened to the Matrix soundtrack for ages! Loved the blend of music offered. Interstellar is great for testing headphones IMO as well (or anything Hans Zimmer writes). I'd love to hear any soundtracks that stand out to you!

For me, a favorite of mine will always be Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori. I know it isn't movies per-say, but the Halo and Destiny soundtracks are some of the best I've ever heard PERIOD, regardless the media they're supporting. Never gonna get tired of them. Halo: Reach in particular is one of the few OSTs that actually make me feel emotional. (I have Autism, which has the bonus (sarcasm) of having kinda dulled emotions, so it's a feat to make me feel something other than just happy/content. On the flip side, I have a hearing sensitivity, so that's a blessing/curse itself.)

Listening to the Solo: A Star Wars Story soundtrack and it's excellent. John Powell is the composer. Never heard of him before this but it's a well done movie score. One of my all time favourite movie scores is LOTR. I'm getting the "complete recordings" now as they're being re-released. They come with a blu-ray disc with the entire score. Sounds amazing in HD5.1.

Quentin Tarantino is arguably my favorite when it comes to movie soundtracks. My favorites are Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill (in no particular order).
Baby Driver also had a surprisingly great OST that was worth a purchase.

Fair warning, since the set is out of production now prices have shot up for it. To the tune of $225 for a new set. Used prices are however more reasonable at around $70 on BluRay. I got my set on deep discount at Best Buy of all places around the holidays for $40. Same with complete Futurama and James Bond collections.
It's funny as the pricess on them are crazy nowadays for a BNIB set. I have a few other collectibles that I've opened over the years that I almost wish I would have kept sealed due to their increase in value now. Funny what they say about hindsight I suppose, ha.

Yikes--those are some serious prices. May have to keep my eye open for alternate offers, maybe check out my local used record stores--or take maters into my own hands and sail of the Pirate Bay--harrr!
