i can vouch for the G502 Proteus Core Gaming Mouse - FPS Mouse - Logitech. i have owned it for about 3 months with absolutely no issues. Very strong (some raging slams to the desktop), very nice customization options with the software (http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g502-proteus-core-tunable-gaming-mouse) works great without a mouse pad. i travel a lot and use this with my laptop, so i have used it on many surfaces with no issues. you can also tune it for different surfaces, but i never have had to.
