Guys as an owner of a gaming laptop (Asus ROG line) I wouldn't recommend a gaming laptop. I've had my laptop for 3 almost for 4 years now and trust me there's more cons than pros. The main problems are the price, battery, and size. Price Not everyone is in the boat of trying to save as much money as they can but really who doesn't like saving a couple bucks? Building your own PC isn't as hard as you think and in doing so you can choose what parts you want and the quality of them. This means you can go over or even under budget, when it comes to building its all up to you. Also side note, PC's lose value, or at least your cards do overtime (mining has changed this I know) but your desktop is easy to crack into, replace the part, then sell back. Laptops on the other hand don't have many replaceable parts meaning you normally have to drop another load of cash on a laptop... Battery When I got my PC I came to a strange finding. When playing the laptop, it would lag like crazy on the most simple of games, but once plugged in, the PC would run things just fine. So now I played while having it constantly plugged in thus killing the battery, it's just a somewhat mobile desktop. Size Now this is the killer for me, size. My laptop isn't practical whatsoever as cases were IMPOSSIBLE to find. I started using an old backpack of mine to keep it in if on the move, setting it up wasn't difficult but again keeping it plugged in was a pain. And you may say "hey why don't you just get a smaller laptop, slim it down", but in reality you're now reducing screen size on the laptop. The laptops now are very lightweight yes and slim, but screen size is an issue at least for me when gaming. Not sure the uses of a gaming laptop in general if you're keeping it at home like a desktop unless you take it on the move or maybe do editing off of the laptop but for gaming I'd advise a build. Trust me its more bang for your buck unless you really are in a situation where you have to move constantly.
