TigewillADAM doesn't have good monitors. They're just kind off hyped good sounding speakers. Not accurate monitors. Also this is a Studio Monitors poll, not studio equipment poll.

WasThatDaveADAM makes VERY good studio monitors. The AX7's are incredibly accurate. Genelec and ADAM are among the best in professional studios world wide.

Tigewillthe A7Xs are not accurate and I don't where you're getting this info from. Adam's larger S series monitors are great but the AX series and F series are really bad. Especially for vocal, piano, and guitar mixing. Believe me you don't find Adam's AX/F series products in any professional studios, they hype the low end so much. Their X-Art tweeters are very nice though. But the lower midrange and bass frequencies are really hyped when compared to other monitors. Also KRK is well known for making monitors you would mix Rock or Metal on and aren't known for their accuracy. Also Rokit 8s cost less for a pair then a single A7X.

WasThatDaveI never liked the Adams cause the tweeters kill my ears. Maybe I'm just a tad too sensitive. I owned Yamaha HS5, being quite clear but too fatiguing in the long run. Genelecs I currently own, I guess 8020... Very balanced and a very calm housing - aluminium is a god choice here I think. In my studio I stick to Neumann which would now be the KH310. They are awesome but expensive. Closed box down to 25Hz is really massive. The smaller KH110 or now KH120 are awesome, too. Not going so deep but no coloration and a smooth high end - revealing details while not pushing them... Also Event might be a good buy, like the 20/20. Quite cheap and descent. I had a look at the bigger Opal but went for the Neumann then. I felt the plastic housing sounds boomy and the highs are itchy. Regarding KRK, they are too boomy for serious monitoring. Though nice in the lo price area...

MichaelRExactly. KRK is really boomy but fine if you can't afford the higher end stuff. Those Neumanns are awesome! I used to own a pair and they didn't cause any ear fatigue and really provided a clean response. However I now have a pair of SM9s since one of my clients put a hole in the left speakers midrange driver. So I sold the two I had to a friend who could fix them and bought a pair of SM9s. And yeah the Adams tweeters a clear but they cause so much ear fatigue over long listening sessions.

WasThatDaveI would really like to hear what they would be like using their FIR correction device :) On the other hand I do that myself using Acourate, an ingenious Tool for measuring Speakers and creating long FIR filters. They easily correct the Neumanns (of course) not perfect impulse response. Having that fixed in the first place would be superb :) Sadly even the Neumanns aren't that revealing compared to my Electrostatic full range system I own for HiFi... It's a bit disgusting when you build a mix/master which sounds just fine in you monitors and you need just 2 seconds on another system to be like "Hell no - way too much comoression!" the other system is really that good... Though it has some advantages like massively boosted direct sound/room sound relation because of the vast focusing they do by nature.

TigewillIn all honesty I own a pair of ADAM A7X's and They are beautiful monitors but I've recently listened to some Focal Twin6 Be and they blow any monitor I've ever listened to out of the water and when i said that to the guy in the store he said you should listen to the Focal SM9's they are probably the best you can get but they cost nearly $10,000!!!

A_M_KYeah I just got a pair of SM9s from a studio, they sound amazing. But if you ever have the chance to listen to some Barefoot Sound monitors you'll be blown away. They make the SM9s sound silly.
