Hey everyone,
Thanks for voting! We have reached out to the vendors and unfortunately, the Audeze LCD-3 and Sennheiser HD800 are not possible drops at this time. I will update you if anything changes in the future.
Please vote for AB 1266 Abyss. That's really incredible headphone!
The STAX SR-009 has always been my goal with the Cavalli Audio Liquid Gold, buuuuut it's impossible for such a tiny company to keep up with demand so I don't think it's going to drop at all, and I already know where I can find a pretty good deal on these (I think the price is just a few benjamins above the MSRP of the 007MkII) in Japan. JPS Labs and Audeze work on very similar production models as the STAX so all three will surely have hard times keeping up production with this kind of demand. Wholesale is almost impossible for the highest end STAX models and JPS Labs (this thing comes with it's own luggage like carry case and a whole host of other expensive accessories so shipping that entire package will cost quite the small fortune), doable for Audeze. I don't think we'll see these headphones here for a very long time.
Quoting Will from the "Our next >$1,000 headphone..." poll—
"Update Time!
STAX: We're speaking with a couple different branches of STAX and from the looks of it we'll be able to list their SRS-4170 combo soon.
Audeze: They've told us they don't have the production capacity to support a Massdrop order.
Grado: Same problem as Audeze, all their inventory is spoken for.
Outside of this poll, there's been an exciting release in the world of $1000+ headphones. The AKG K812 was released and every unit in the US was quickly bought up. Now they're making the review circuit with exceptional results and we've got 15 units available. Yup, AKG is listing their K812 on Massdrop within the next few days.
Stay tuned and watch for the K812 launch, they won't last long, especially with Massdrop pricing : )"
This was 19 days ago. The drop on the K812 came and went with only 15 units for Massdrop. The other high end headphone that dropped previously would be he Beyer T1. That being said, I really want the LCD3.
Sennheiser (who is leading this poll with the HD800 as I write this) has repeatedly refused Massdrop's requests to drop the HD800. As phenomenal a headphone as it is, I don't think we will see them on here any time soon.
Likewise for Stax, who is having real trouble keeping up with demand at full price. They are months behind schedule in producing the SR-009, and preorders have spoken for most of what is coming out. Massdrop added a Stax 4170 set today, however, which everyone should take a close look at.
I called these the best as almost every review I have read give them top marks for sound quality and comfort for long term listening.
I own the LCD-2 and HD-650. I want to step-up to the LCD3 or HD800, but even Ebay prices are a bit high for me on these. Let's get them new with warranties and all.
