Hey everyone, I wanted to thank you for taking time out to vote in this poll. I wanted to share some background on my motivations for massdropping this product. I recently built a magic "cube" which consists of 840 cards (including lands) that need to be sleeved. If you're lucky, you can get packs of 100 Ultrapro standard sleeves for $6, or 50 sleeves for $3. So that comes out to 6 cents per sleeve retail. So protecting 840 cards would be over $50. I found a retail distributor that sells sleeves by the box (1 box = 12 packs x 50 sleeves) for $23. This comes out to just a little under 4 cents per sleeve. However, they charge a flat 8.50 shipping rate which effectively bumps this up to 5.3 cents per sleeve. Now, if you buy sleeves by the case (10 boxes per case), they give you free shipping, and a mass-buy discount that reduces the cost of a sleeve to 3.2 cents per sleeve, nearly 50% off retail ($19.50 per 600 sleeves). I think the Massdrop staff can do even better, but if not, I'm definitely ok with the $20 price point (including shipping) for a box of sleeves.

PatrickNI hope massdrop can do better, channel fireball already sells 500 for $20 or $5 for 100 so this is basically the same thing

CyronHey Cyron - thanks for your interest! Regarding Channel Fireball's price for these sleeves, there's also their shipping rates to consider. They charge about $8.50 to ship, even if you're in the west coast. So it's more like $28.50 for 500 sleeves, which is 5.6 cents per sleeve. Like I mentioned, one could buy a case of sleeves (6000 sleeves) for $195 - shipping included - from a distributor. However, that is quite a lot of sleeves for just one person at one time. What I would like to see us get is an offer for a display box (600 sleeves) for less than $25 shipped (4 cents or less per sleeve). So let's say Massdrop can get a cases (10 boxes) of sleeves for $180 each, that would make each box $18. Add shipping of say, $5 = $23 total per box of 600 sleeves = 3.8 cents per sleeve, or $1.91 per pack of 50. Definitely a solid deal.

PatrickNI like the math, except it assumes that us employees at massdrop get paid in Cardboard, because all that's left over afterwards is the cardboard boxes that we unpacked... :) I'll call around and find out the price that we can get the cases for, $180 sounds a little low but maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. I think the $5 estimate for shipping is a little low too. Either way, we'll see if it makes sense and get back to you guys!
