HD800 would be amazing..
As someone with both the stax Sr-009 and the Sennheiser HD800's I can personally attest we should vote for the beetz the bass is insane on those!

Indeed! And the crystals help align each audio channel to produce the purest sound ever found in headphones. Based on what I understand from their marketing materials anyway.
We ended up filling this poll and running both the Hifiman HE 400s and HE 500s. Here are the links to the product pages: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/hifiman-he500 and https://www.massdrop.com/buy/hifiman-he400. We've had a ton of requests and will definitely look into running the drops again.

Has Audeze by chance responded at all? If there's any shot at all of these getting dropped I'm not interested in pretty much any other headphone (unless 009s are /somehow/ dropped into my price range).

Yup, and sadly they have no interest in working with the community. Between their limited stock and pricing policies, they wont be listing any headphones on Massdrop in the near future.
As someone who owns the LCD-2 and has previously owned the LCD-3, I would say the LCD-3 is not "worth" the price difference. At that level, which one is superior is less a matter of technical capabilities, but rather sound signature preference for the listener. Basically, you're just as likely to prefer one to the other.

Also, given the MSRP, even if the LCD-3 were to be offered, I am doubtful it would hit the required # of buyers to make the drop successful (I'd guess it'd be at least five). The LCD-2 is much more realistic of a drop; just look at the STAX system right now, which I did end up joining. Those prices necessarily mean the majority of Massdropers won't be willing or able to participate, and the LCD-3 is veering the range of 50-100% more than even that.
It should be noted that it is "End Game" headphone, so only headphone being considered as best in class with "no upgrade possible" should be listed... some headphones listed here are obviously not "End Game".

I've listen to all but the LCD3, th-600 and the vmoda. And I honestly think that the th900 should deserve more praise, definitely the best closed back headphone out there. It's easy to power but difficult match... one can easily miss it's magic (especially the outstanding soundstage for a closed backed headphone) if badly associated..

The stax sr009 could be in the list, but I think is more a "dynamic headphone" list... +1 on the comment on the sony and the vmoda-that-I-ve-not-listened has nothing to do with that list, and I would add the he-400...
Is Audeze likely to cooperate? if so that would be a great group buy
Why HE-500 and not HE-6?
The Sony MDR-MA900 would be a great pic for budget (MSRP $299) high-end gaming headphones.

The soundstage and imaging is superb because of the massive 70mm drivers.

It helps with games where you need to determine which direction something is coming from.

They're also extreeeeemely light for having earpads this large, which makes them comfortable for many hours of extended wear.

Perhaps they aren't up to snuff for the Luxury category, but compared to the type of headphones the majority of people use, these could easily be considered luxury; and at a price that might accommodate a larger buy in
None of these would ever happen.

With that attitude you might as well say that there's no reason for any headphone but the STAX SR-009 to be on here. After all, they're a good 4.5 grand, and require a similarly priced amp. Make the Audeze look like pocket change price wise.

For most people (almost, I don't know what the Sony and Voda are doing here) /anything/ on this poll is easily an end of game headphone.

The only headphones that arent on both my and your list are the HE-400 and Audio Technica... relax.

The OP is looking for "the very best in luxury Audiophile headphones." Im sorry, I may have misinterpreted that as TOTL. Yea the HD 6X0 line and I dunno, Mad Dog and HE-400 can compete but given that the OP mentioned the LCD-3 being the very best headphone available, I assumed he was looking for headphones within that class.

Also the reason I said only those headphones is because they are TOTL and have the best chance of winning (aka are popular). Add the Stax on here; it probably wont change anything.

Sorry, dont know much about the Audio Technica.
======================================
Lol I think people got sick of trying to properly drive the HE-6.
Sorry for adding the HE-400's in the wrong category :(
