They cost slightly more because they are better and microphones are cheap. I still have no idea why people vote for the m50x though, they aren't that great for the price when compared to other headphones in the same price range since they are in such a high demand. Even if they were at the old price they wouldn't compete with other headphones listed because they have a closed ear cup.
